Lina's Musical Art
Hey There
All About Lina's Musical Art
Born in Chicago, IL. but raised in Evanston, Lina Mason always aspired to be a musician and an artist. As a music educator for 13 years, Covid allowed me time to slow down and meditate while painting- Basically, I found ME. I am a music teacher by day, violist/violinist, private lessons instructor, freelance artist with a true passion for painting.
Lina Mason, completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Education from Western Illinois University on a full music scholarship. Teaching in North Chicago's District 187, she received her Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership. Later spending 10+ years as a Chicago Public Schools Teacher, she has had kids perform at The Metro Chicago and Millenioum Park. However, her love for art started at a young age, but as a young adult found initial inspiration at a paint n sip. The rest was History.
All of my contemporary art is made from the heart using happiness, love, ample feelings as well as deep pain, depression, anxiety and mixed emotions. Raw feelings are used to start the piece (may even cry it out) while using deep breathing to complete the rest. With strong values of creativity, family, animals and music; I find inspiration in every aspect of life. Some paintings are more abstract, some are opposite of my internal feelings, some are realism pieces. "I've always had a love for abstract art. While younger, I participated in Evanston's Y.E.A. festivals every year and received a savings bond for a prestigious art award in grade school and completed personal works for many years. As a young adult, I focused on music and gaining more exposure for our inner city youth. Now I'm focused on feeling happy, grounded, loved and in peace while painting". My father, Eddie Mason, a Master percussionist and Music therapist, has also had a major influence in my musical and art life.
Lina has been featured in the Evanston Round Table and named Emerging Artist at many festivals in the Chicago Metropolitan area. Some festivals include: Grant Park: Gold Coast Art Festival, Northbrook Art Festival, Evanston big fork Fest, Art on the Fox (Algonquin,IL) and many local Evanston Made events.
